"Pressing Issues Surrounding Immigration", on Thursday, June 26th, 2025 6:00-8:30 in Maple Grove
Please join us as we welcome Erika Kennedy who will speak on the pressing, and often misunderstood, issues surrounding immigration and iIllegal immigration, including the myths and realities. Drawing from her decades of experience as an advocate, educator, and community organizer within the Latino community, Erika will also address the impact of cartels, sex and human trafficking, and the challenges these pose to both immigrants and the broader society. In addition, she will share effective strategies for outreach and engagement in the Latino community emphasizing trust-building, cultural understanding, and the importance of clear, communication.
Erika, originally from Mexico, immigrated to the United States nearly 30 years ago and has a Bachelor's degree in Public Health and a Master's in Organizational Leadership. She is a radio host on Minnesota Latin Radio, where she connects with and informs the local Latino population. Erika currently holds the role of Co-Chair for the Hispanic Republican Party Council.

Please join us to hear our own Kristin Robbins speak about her experiences and challenges in the Minnesota Legislature this term. Kristin is Chairman of the House Fraud and State Agency Oversight Committee. She has been working valiantly to help Minnesota get control of its spending and establish accountability across the board.
As you know, Kristin is a member of our club. She is currently in her fourth term as State Representative. She covers district 37-A, which includes Corcoran, Greenfield, Independence, Loretto, Maple Plain, Medina and four precincts in Maple Grove.
Kristin is also the Co-Vice Chair of Ways and Means, and a member of the Higher Education Finance and Policy and Tax Committees.
Kristin has a master’s degree in economics and has worked in Washington as a Legislative Assistant with a focus on taxes, trade, education and labor issues. She was also a founding member and Executive Director of The Economic Club of Minnesota.

He also participated in the opening of new U.S. embassies in Mongolia and Estonia, worked on the Foreign Relations Committees of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, and served as Director for NATO and European Affairs at the Atlantic Council of the United States in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Hanson currently is Diplomat in Residence at the Alworth Institute for International Affairs at the University of Minnesota – Duluth. He also serves as Chair of the Minnesota Committee on Foreign Relations and as Co-Chair of the Minnesota China Business Council. He is a past board member of the Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights and Director at the Institute for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (IEECA).

Our Members
Our members include women and men in the western Twin Cities suburbs of Plymouth, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, and surrounding areas. We are chartered by the Minnesota Federation of Republican Women. Begun in 2015, we focus on education, grassroots political involvement, and community service to benefit veterans.
Annual membership runs $45 (or $25 for spouses and associate members). It covers the costs of meeting space rental, website management, postage, and other miscellaneous administrative costs. To inquire about membership, contact nwmetrowomen@protonmail.com.

Guests are welcome to our monthly meetings. They are held on the 4th Thursday of the month, in the evening, and generally take place in the banquet room of a restaurant in Maple Grove. $16 cover charge includes dinner.
